2010A New Take on “Bundling” Health Plans
When the Affordable Care Act (ACA) arrived, we introduced an alternative option - “bundled” health insurance solutions. By combining indemnity plans with other ancillary products and healthcare savings tools, we created flexible, affordable coverage – especially to those without ACA subsidies and those who wanted to maintain their freedom of choice. Our concept is now a go-to model adopted across the industry.
2007Smarter Underwriting, Stronger Stability
To help stabilize premiums for our insureds, we introduced telephone interview and non-tobacco rates – underwriting practices that set new industry standards and are still widely used today.
2005Securing Wealth With Annuities
As our Med Supp business thrived, we saw the need for guaranteed income solutions for seniors. So, we added annuities to the mix giving seniors smart, secure ways to grow their savings. What began as an innovative CD annuity evolved into today’s trusted MYGAs.
Mid 90sEnter Medicare Supplement
We launched our Medicare Supplement line bringing competitive pricing and standout service to a market that needed both – and so, we quickly became a top choice. Within a decade, we grew to be one of the largest Medicare Supplement carriers in the nation.
Early 90sGiving Policyholders a Lifeline
As other carriers faltered during an economic downturn, we stepped up - acquiring insolvent insurers and keeping thousands of policyholder protected. It wasn’t just good business, it was the right thing to do and set the stage for acquisitions industry wide.
1991A Fresh Start
With $3 million in capital and a single Texas license, we officially reopened our doors under new management. Our guiding philosophy to put the consumer first, has helped reshape the industry over time and still holds true today.
1989A “New Era” Begins
New leadership stepped in with a vision to put consumers at the heart of insurance plans. That idea sparked a “New Era” of insurance for American consumers and gave us our name!
